Addressing a traditional Christmas reception hosted by the Government Office for Religious Communities, its head Drago Čepar said that the year dedicated to Protestant reformer Primož Trubar had encouraged ecumenism and interfaith cooperation. Representatives of religious communities living in Slovenia agreed that intercultural and interfaith dialogue had marked the past year out.
Bishop Geza Erniša, the leader of the Evangelic Lutheran Church, said that Trubar Year - marking the 500th anniversary of the man who published the first Slovenian books - contributed to making the Evangelic Church better known to Slovenians.
Taking stock of his office's achievements this year, Čepar quoted the publication of a book on "State and Religious Communities in Slovenia", which contains constitutional and legal documents dealing with the subject, as well as agreements with religious communities.
